ADVANCED INTRODUCTORY 

The Introduction to Welding Application & Practice is for the new welder and will focus on all the fundamentals needed to work in the welding industry. This course will teach, educate, instruct and prepare you, on different types of welding and welding positions used in the industry and workplace.

You will be instructed, trained and assessed by suitably qualified experts in both theory and practical work in fully equipped workshops. Your theory and practical skills will be tested and improved in this environment. You will learn in a practical workshop environment from industry experts. With this introductory course you will be equipped with the essential foundation to begin your journey as a competent and safe welder. On completion of this course, you will receive The Olifantsfontein Artisans Academy Welding Certificate of Accomplishment.

  • Cored-wire Arc Welding (Flux core welding) in all positions 

  • Oxy-fuel welding in all positions 

  • Oxy-fuel brazing (copper brazing) 

  • Oxy-fuel cutting (Flame cutting) 

  • Pipe welding 

  • Aluminium Welding 

  • Stainless Steel welding 

  • Plasma cutting 

  • Destructive & Non destructive testing methods

  • Blueprint Reading and Drafting

Course Objectives

  • Comprehensive Welding Knowledge: Gain a comprehensive understanding of various welding techniques and their applications in different industries.

  • Welding Positions: Learn and practice welding in different positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.

  • Instruction by Qualified Experts: Receive instruction, training, and assessment from industry experts who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

  • Hands-on Practical Training: Develop welding skills in a fully equipped workshop, allowing immediate application of practical skills.

  • Safe Welding Practices: Emphasize safety protocols and best practices to ensure a secure working environment.

  • Preparation for ARPL and Trade Test: Acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to be fully prepared for the Accredited Welding Registration License (ARPL) and Trade Test.

Course Duration

  • 90 Days

  • Step 1: Enrol for the Welding Level 2-4 training course

  • Step 2: Gain 3 years work experience in the Welding trade industry

  • Step 3: Enrol for the Prep – training course for the Red Seal  Certification

  • Step 4: Book your trade test

  • Step 5: On completion of your Red Seal certification - you will be able to trade as a qualified Red Seal Welder​​
